Tomorrow is the big day! 🙌 After a year of intensive (re)writing, editing, illustrating and formatting I am happy to share that I will finally publish my sophomore children’s bedtime storybook – Ning Ning. Starting from September 1st 2025, this anthology will be available in e-book and paperback formats on Amazon (at all global marketplaces), as well as at several well-known book retailers worldwide 🎉.
Ning Ning, which in my native Barbadian dialect means ‘sleepy’😴, comprises 8 bedtime stories told in the style of traditional Caribbean folk tales. This must-have story collection includes the popular stories: The Cricket Match, How Hummingbirds Learned to Fly and Ning Ning. In addition to the stories, kids will surely enjoy the colorful accompanying illustrations as well as several fun, yet educational activities based on the stories.
Ning Ning, is an evolution of my earlier anthology, Fresh Ereba. It is intended to be used by parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, guardians and godparents alike as a storytelling resource to stimulate the enquiring minds of young ones, aged 4 to 10 years old. Through these stories I aim to promote:
1. Greater appreciation and awareness of Caribbean heritage, culture and cuisine by children in the diaspora.
2. More active and frequent adult-child interaction through a nightly bedtime storytelling ritual.
3. Passive learning about history, nature and science by children.
