I can’t lie it has been a rough past few weeks. The stress at work has been through the roof. My training for the Dam-tot-Dam Loop has intensified to new heights; and my social calendar has been relentlessly packed every week. It feels as if the year has hit its stride and is sprinting full tilt towards 2027. All gas no brakes.
With all of this busynesss that has been going on, I’ve found it challenging to make the time to write beyond a few lines here and there. Interestingly, mostly what flows out of me these days is poetry. It seems to ooze out of me spasmodically, with no warning. I suddenly get struck by a thunderbolt of inspiration, and then I find myself reeling off line after line of prose until the ‘poetic seizure’ passes. These episodes come and go unexpectdly, leaving me always wondering whether my creative juices have been spent.
Yet each time more prose comes out of me like an bottomless geyser of creativity. With each poem that I write, I feel as though I can hear my inner voice growing more strident. The days of whispering what lies in my heart are long gone and in their place has come a resounding, thunderous roar. It is reminder of the internal compass that invisibly guides my steps as well as my stumbles, since sometimes that’s how life progresses.
So although life is a swirling, crazy tempest right now I’m grateful for this God-given gift. Writing keeps me grounded, and allows me to weather any storm, while steadfastly anchoring me to who I am at a fundamental level as a human being. So keep this watching this space. There’s a lot more to come! Thanks as always for stopping by!
