Recently, I took the plunge! After years of shunning social media I finally decided to set up an Instagram account. As much as I dislike the intellectually vapidness and superficiality of social media, as an aspiring author I can no longer deny its value as a marketing and promotion tool. So I belatedly and somewhat reluctantly decided to embark on what I have dubbed “My insta journey”!

I invite you to join me in this adventure. My instagram handle is super simple; despite brainstorming over a dozen possible names, i ended up on kiran_dellimore_writes. I will post regularly (at least once a week) about literature, art, culture, cusine and my travels. So if that captures your interest please consider following me. I should warn you that I’m still learning the ropes of Instagram, so please bear with me. My first few posts and stories may not be as dynamic or exciting as you might be used to.

After less than 2 weeks I have already found Instagram to be a very useful platform and resource. I have connected with several literature aficionados who have so-called “bookstagram” accounts (with companion YouTube channels). This in fact has led to my first book promotion through Instagram! I connected with Tropical Literature Creatives (TLC) who selected my debut historical fiction novel, Children of the Ocean God, as the book of the day. I’m grateful to TLC for their kind support of my writing.

I hope to share more exciting news about my insta journey in the coming weeks and months. Stay tuned for some fun-filled posts in April and May when I will be in the Caribbean for the OCM Bocas Literature Festival in Trinidad. Thanks for stopping by!

As always I am curious to hear your thoughts on this blogpost. Please feel free to leave a comment below. Also, if you would like to receive more updates about my writing please consider joining my mailing list by subscribing below or following me on Instagram.
