It’s been a while since I shared an update on some of my ambitious writing related projects that are in the works for 2025 and beyond. Among the most exciting projects that I have “cooking” currently is a multi-part podcast series. Hosted by a good friend of mine, the podcast provides an intimate glimpse into my life story as well as my journey as a writer. So far we have filmed two episodes and have a couple hours of solid footage.
Collaborating on this podcast project has been a fascinating creative experience. As a writer I’m accustomed to telling stories on paper (i.e., writing them down in a word document), which affords me ample time to reflect and revise what I share. However, doing this podcast has forced me to broaden my horizons as a storyteller by bringing my stories to life spontaneously in an oral format. Podcasting offers a very dynamic and fluid outlet for storytelling – you have to live in the moment and no two moments are alike – so the stories are unique since they depend heavily on the emotions and feelings I am experiencing at the time that recount them.
In the beginning, I must confess I was quite scared that I would be unsuitable for podcasting. I feared I would be too nervous and incoherent to be a good oral storyteller. When my nerves strike, I often become wooden and my voice acquires a dull, monotonous droning tone. However, I have been pleasantly surprised by how smooth and fluent the recordings for the podcast have gone so far. I find myself laughing naturally and sharing many genuine spontaneous moments with my friend, which has been refreshing.
At the moment I unfortunately cannot share any more details other than to say please stay tuned. I expect to have more exciting news soon. Till then have a wonderful week. Thanks for stopping by!
